Where to travel from Darlington
Darlington is in a superb location with adventure in every direction! Head West, on the A66 and explore the panoramic Pennines before carrying on to the England’s largest National Park and World Heritage Site in the Lake District.
To the East, you’ll find tranquility in the North York Moors National Park or bustling seaside towns such as Whitby, Staithes and Scarborough.
If you’re heading North, the wild and remote Northumberland coastline is dotted with charming castles, as well as the chance to spot wildlife such as seals and seabirds. From Darlington, the A68 is also a fantastic and scenic route towards the Chieviots and Scotland. Pull over at Carter Bar to acknowledge the Anglo-Scottish border, or stop off in Jedburgh to drink in its rich hirstory.
To the South, the magnificent Yorkshire Dales offer much to explore, from the famous Three Peaks to the amphitheatre of Malham Cove and of course, the culinary delights of Wensleydale cheese!
